Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. This is where I'll be sharing my Genius Hour project.
The question I will be investigating, is: "How can I create a pair of knitted mittens?"
Experiences so far: I have a basic knowledge of knitting. I know how to do one type of knitting stitch, and I can knit in a straight line to form wash cloths or scarves. However, I do not know how to knit patterns, how to join two pieces of yarn, or how to knit curved objects such as hats or mittens. Learning these processes will involve acquiring new skills, and new knitting materials.
Next Steps: I will need to research the different types of "stitches" involved in knitting mittens, and learn how to do each one. I will need to practice these stitches, until I have achieved a basic knowledge of each, and become comfortable or familiarized with each one.
Goals: My goal is to learn and master the skills necessary to knit a pair of mittens.
Measurement of Success: While I may not be able to complete a pair of knitted mittens in the time allotted for this project, I should be able to master the skills necessary to complete them if I am successful.
