Closing Thoughts: Genius Hour
This week, I learned how to attach the rectangles of yarn, to form the rectangles I had knitted into mittens - the final step! Just as with the prior steps I took to learn how to knit mittens, I found instructional videos to be extremely helpful. Seeing the movements you need to make with your hands and the needle to attach the pieces together was extremely helpful. With video, I could pause, re-wind, and re-watch sections for as long and as often as I needed to in order to learn the skill. Although I had lots of practice with the general knit stitches and have grown quite familiar with how to do these, I still struggle with casting on and binding off, because you don't need to use these skills as often when knitting a piece. In the future, I would like to practice these skills more, so I can become more familiar with them, and they become as easy as the general knit stitches are for me now.
