Digizen - Copyright Reflection
While I have always known that it is important to protect
the work of creators, I was unaware of the significant legal implications, through
copyright, involved in reproducing works in an educational setting, or for an
educational purpose. Specifically, I learned which kinds of media, and how much
of a particular medium, is appropriate to share in an educational setting. I
also learned how it can be shared, and for what purposes it is appropriate to
be shared freely. Further, I learned of the importance of citation, and was
made aware that students’ works are also protected by copyright.

An important lesson for students, would be the importance of
following copyright, and how to properly use and credit, or “cite”, the works
of others that they have used to create their own projects. Further, as
educators, we can encourage students to create their own images, graphics, or
other media, and apply a Creative Commons license.
